NCERT Class 10 Maths Ch.2 Polynomials Ex 2.1

Solution:
The number of zeroes of a polynomial equals the number of points where its graph meets the x-axis (count each distinct x-intersection once). For the six graphs shown in Fig. 2.10 the answers are:
(i) zero zeroes
(ii) one zero,
(iii) three zeroes
(iv) two zeroes
(v) four zeroes and
(vi) three zeroes.

Q1: Find the zeroes of the following quadratic polynomials and verify the relationship between the zeroes and the coefficients. (i) x2−2x−8 (ii) 4s2−4s+1 (iii) 6x2−3−7x (iv) 4u2+8u (v) t2−15 (vi) 3x2−x−4
Solution:

Q2:

Solution:
A quadratic polynomial can be formed using the formula: k(x2−(sum of zeroes)x+(product of zeroes)) where k is any non-zero constant. We can simply take k=1 for the simplest polynomial.
